Technical Director/Director - Sustainability
ETL is looking to recruit a Technical Director to join our Sustainability Consultancy team. ETL is a multi-disciplinary consultancy specialising in health, science, and research - our experts provide transformative services in the digital, human and built environments.
With COP26 happening in Glasgow later this year the UK is taking centre stage in a world that is grappling with the climate change agenda – the NHS is leading the charge in setting some very challenging targets that will see it get to NetZero quicker than any other country. Its 1.2m workforce is right behind it, all it needs is the right strategies to influence change.
Sustainability plays a multifunctional role in society, the places and environments we use and the transformative effect it will have on the planet. ETL has that DNA running through it - in all areas of our work. As the Sustainability Director, you will play a critical role in communicating and enhancing the sustainability service offering.
Big Global challenge
The initiative is simple, reduce the amount of harmful carbon we create to protect the planet from global warming. Embed sustainable ways of working, building and living into all facets of our lives. The challenge is to redesign the way things are done from procurement all the way to service re-design. Influencing others and demonstrating the value of what can be done will help pivot organisations in achieving their targets sooner.
The spotlight is on every organisation and that will take strong leadership backed up by strategic thinking, expert advice, and proven technologies to reverse the harm on the planet. The scope is huge and challenging but an exciting one. The role of the Sustainability Director will harness this heightened energy to identify and realise new business opportunities for ETL spanning across service lines, adopting an integrated approach to infrastructure solutions
ETL is rising to the challenge
We adapted to the Covid 19 crisis in the way we were able to employ smarter more agile ways of working – our employees embraced that and as a result, we have helped reduce our overall emissions. We want to give something back to society and over the last year have supported several challenges (most human-powered) as we help others less fortunate. At work, we are constantly learning and looking at innovative ways of doing things. It is that expertise that is in demand and is helping to change the environments and places we work and live in.
